The selection process consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Interview or Personality Test

Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university.
Age Limit
The age of the candidate should be between 21 and 38 years as on 1 January 2025.
Age Relaxation
- OBC/MOBC: 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
Other Requirements
- Must be an Indian citizen
- Must be an original inhabitant of Assam
- Must be registered in an Employment Exchange of Assam
- Must know Assamese or any official or tribal language of the state

Preliminary Examination
- Two papers: General Studies I and II
- 200 marks each
- Duration: 2 hours per paper
- Objective type questions
- Negative marking of one-fourth marks
Main Examination
- Six papers
- Total 1500 marks
- Duration: 3 hours for each paper
Interview
- 180 marks
