About Assam VFA Recruitment 2026
The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to 200 Veterinary Field Assistant and allied cadre posts under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam.
The recruitment is open to permanent residents of Assam who meet the prescribed educational and eligibility requirements. Selected candidates will have to complete a mandatory one-year training programme in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science before appointment.

Key Recruitment Information
Vacancies: A total of 200 posts are available under the Veterinary Field Assistant and allied cadre.
The category-wise vacancy distribution includes 112 UR, 73 OBC/MOBC, 5 SC, 10 ST(P), and no ST(H) vacancies. The roster also includes 60 posts reserved for women and 8 posts for PwBD candidates.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed HSSLC (Class 12) in Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects from a recognized Board, Council, or University.
Age Requirement: Candidates must be 18 to 40 years of age as on 01 January 2026. Upper-age relaxation is available by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC/MOBC, 10 years for PwBD, and 2 years for Ex-Servicemen candidates.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam. Candidates must upload a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes as proof of domicile.
Pay Scale: Selected candidates will receive ₹14,000–₹70,000 under Pay Band-2 with Grade Pay of ₹6,200, along with other admissible allowances.

Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
Selection for the Veterinary Field Assistant and equivalent entry-level posts will be based on an OMR-based written examination followed by mandatory training.
The written test will contain 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks and will be conducted for 120 minutes at HSSLC (Science) level.

Candidates selected for recruitment must subsequently undergo one year of training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, and its extended campuses. Passing this training is mandatory before appointment.
