The Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam has invited online applications for the recruitment of Registrar, Demonstrator, and Resident Physician posts in various Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals under the Medical Education & Research Department, Government of Assam.
A total of 492 vacancies have been notified across multiple clinical, para-clinical, and pre-clinical departments. Key Recruitment Information
Vacancies: A total of 492 vacancies have been announced for Registrar, Demonstrator, and Resident Physician posts across various Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals in Assam.
Educational Qualification: Candidates applying for Broad Specialty departments must possess an MD, MS, DNB, or MDS degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC), National Board of Examinations (NBE), or Dental Council of India (DCI).
For Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology departments, candidates possessing the qualifications prescribed under the latest NMC regulations are also eligible. Super Specialty departments require MD/MS/DNB qualifications in the relevant specialty, while candidates holding DM, M.Ch., or DNB Super Specialty qualifications will be given preference wherever applicable.
Age Requirement: Applicants must be between 21 and 45 years of age as on 01 January 2026. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are eligible for 10 years of age relaxation irrespective of category.
Salary: Selected candidates will be placed in Academic Level 10 under the Pay Matrix with a salary ranging from ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400 per month, along with other admissible allowances.
Reservation & Relaxation: Reservation of posts has been provided for UR, OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories. Age relaxation and reservation benefits will be applicable as notified by the Government of Assam.

MHRB Assam Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The recruitment procedure will be notified separately by the Medical and Health Recruitment Board based on the number of applications received.
Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be considered through the selection process prescribed by the Board. Preference or weightage will be given to doctors serving under Rule 17A of the MHRB Regulations or those working on contractual engagement under institutions of the Medical Education & Research Department, including postgraduate contractual engagements.
