About APSC Home Guard Recruitment 2026
Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for recruitment to the post of Class-I (Junior Grade) Home Guards in Assam Home Guards Services. The recruitment is aimed at selecting eligible graduates for administrative and operational roles in the Home Guards department.
The selection process includes written examination, physical efficiency tests, medical examination, and personality test. Candidates selected through this recruitment will be appointed under Assam Government service rules with Pay Band-3 salary structure.

Organization: Assam Home Guards Services under Home and Political Department, Government of Assam
Pay Scale: ₹22,000 to ₹97,000 + Grade Pay ₹11,800 + other allowances under Pay Band-3.
Category-wise Reservation: The recruitment includes reservation for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), STH, women, and Ex-Servicemen categories as per Assam Government rules. Out of 22 posts, 7 posts are reserved for women candidates and 1 post is reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must be Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates must upload all semester/year mark sheets along with final pass certificate during application.
Nationality & Residency:
Candidates must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam. Valid PRC or Employment Exchange Registration Certificate will be accepted as proof of residency.
Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026):
Candidates must be between 21 years and 38 years of age.
Reservation & Relaxation:
Upper age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates. Ex-Servicemen can apply up to 50 years for unreserved category with additional relaxation for reserved categories as per rules.
PwBD Eligibility:
PwBD reservation is not applicable for this recruitment.
Eligibility Note:
Candidates already working in Assam Government service must upload service certificate or NOC wherever applicable.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of multiple stages.
- Written Examination
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination
- Interview / Personality Test
The written examination will consist of two papers carrying 200 marks each. Paper-I will cover General Ability and Intelligence, while Paper-II will include General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension.
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The Physical Efficiency Test includes running and long jump events for both male and female candidates.
Male candidates must complete:
- 100 meters race in 16 seconds
- 800 meters race in 3 minutes 45 seconds
- Long jump of minimum 3.5 meters
Female candidates must complete:
- 100 meters race in 18 seconds
- 800 meters race in 4 minutes 45 seconds
- Long jump of minimum 3 meters
Physical Standards
Minimum height requirement:
- Male: 165 cm (General/OBC/SC), 162 cm for ST(P)/ST(H)
- Female: 157 cm (General/OBC/SC), 152.40 cm for ST(P)/ST(H)
Minimum chest measurement for male candidates:
- General/OBC/SC/ST(P): 80 cm (normal), 85 cm (expanded)
- ST(H): 78 cm (normal), 83 cm (expanded)
