CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat is a premier research institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The institute works in multidisciplinary scientific research across environmental, chemical, biological, and engineering sectors.
The institute has released this recruitment notification to fill Group “C” level vacancies including Multi Tasking Staff and Driver positions. Selected candidates will receive Central Government pay scale, allowances, pension benefits, and other CSIR service benefits.

Post Name: Multi Tasking Staff (MTS)

Pay Level: Level-1
Approx Salary: ₹33,375/month including allowances
Educational Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent pass. Intermediate (12th pass) qualification is desirable.
Post Name: Driver (Non-Technical)
Total Vacancies: 01 Post (UR)
Pay Level: Level-2
Approx Salary: ₹36,700/month including allowances
Educational Qualification:
- Valid LMV and HMV driving license
- Knowledge of motor mechanism
- Minimum 3 years driving experience
- 10th pass qualification required
👉 Out of the MTS vacancies, 2 posts are reserved for PwBD candidates and 2 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: For Multi Tasking Staff (MTS), candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent examination from a recognized board. Candidates with 12th pass qualification may get preference.
For Driver post, candidates must possess valid LMV and HMV driving licence along with minimum 3 years driving experience after obtaining licence. Knowledge of basic motor mechanism is also required.
Age Limit:
- MTS: Maximum 25 years
- Driver: Maximum 27 years
Reservation & Relaxation: Upper age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (NCL) candidates against reserved posts. PwBD candidates can get up to 10 years age relaxation, while SC/ST PwBD candidates can receive up to 15 years relaxation as per Government of India rules.
Ex-Servicemen are also eligible for age relaxation as per Central Government norms.
PwBD Eligibility: The MTS post is identified suitable for multiple benchmark disability categories including locomotor disability, autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disability, mental illness, and multiple disabilities.
The Driver post is not suitable for PwBD candidates.
Eligibility Note: Candidates must upload all required educational certificates, caste certificates, experience documents, and other supporting documents during online application.
